Eurovision: Host City Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Year hosted: 1970
Venue: RAI Congrescentrum
Facts: Amsterdam was only chosen as the host city from random lots after 1969's contest ended in a four-way tie. Finland, Norway, Portugal, Austria and Sweden all boycotted the 1970 event as they were unhappy with the previous year's outcome. The eventual winner was Ireland's Dana, who beat off stiff competition from a then-unknown Julio Inglesias of Spain.
